６月８－９日，２００８年第２９届奥运会主办城市——北京像世界上其他３３个城市一样，经历了一个独特的历史性时刻，迎来了２００４年雅典奥运会的圣火。 众所周知，此次奥运圣火有史以来第一次穿行５大洲，打破政治、宗教、社会和文化的樊篱，联结起全世界的人民，体现了奥运会的广泛性。 主题为“传递圣火，联结世界”的首次全球火炬接力，前所未有地传递着人与人之间和平友爱的信息，以及对“为奥林匹克停战”的古希腊传统的敬意。 无论男女老幼，身体健康或身患残疾，职业运动员或业余爱好者，也无论来自富庶之邦或是欠发达地区，圣火所到之处，天下一家。 火炬接力使奥运会更贴近社会，为大众创造了参与奥运的机会。 圣火途经了２７个国家的城市和地区，同样在北京，成千上万的民众热情地迎接圣火的到来。圣火途经历史古迹紫禁城、王府井商业区和国际贸易中心等诸多景点，全程５５公里。人们满怀希望能目睹圣火，或者手持火炬哪怕片刻，有的人甚至跟在接力手身边陪跑。 在雅典奥运会开幕式之前奥运圣火还将燃烧几周，之后它将继续燃烧在全世界青年人的心中，燃烧在曾被它激励过的人们的心中，并长存于过去、现在和将来参加奥运会的运动员、领队、志愿者、组委会成员和所有热爱体育的人们的心中。 ２００８年，空前众多的人们将收听、收看到中国为世界举行的独一无二的盛典，并共同承担起长期推动奥林匹克运动，促进中国和世界体育发展、丰富奥运内容的承诺。 祝北京成功！ 罗格，比利时人，出生于１９４２年５月２日，国际奥委会主席。曾是一名出色的帆船运动员，获帆船比赛芬兰人级世界冠军和两次亚军，参加过１９６８年、１９７２年、１９７６年三届奥运会。退役后，罗格进入比利时根特大学学医，获博士学位，成为一名矫形科外科医生。罗格１９９１年任国际奥委会委员、执委，还担任国际奥委会医学委员会副主席，２０００年和２００４年夏季奥运会协调委员会主席等。２００１年７月１６日当选为国际奥委会新主席。 |
In a few weeks, the Olympic Flame will light up the stadium in Athens, Greece, celebrating the return of the Olympic Games to their country of origin and the start of the world’s biggest sporting festival. Beijing, the host city of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in 2008, like another 33 cities in the world, experienced a unique and historic moment on 8－9 June, with the arrival of the Athens 2004 Olympic Flame. As you know, for the first time in history, the Olympic Flame will have
travelled through all five continents, uniting the people of the world, and breaking down political, religious, social and cultural barriers;
symbolising the universality of the Olympic Games. Whether we are male or female, young or old, able-bodied or disabled, high-level athlete or amateur, whether we live in a rich or a disadvantaged country, the flame unites us all. The Torch Relay is what brings the Games closer to society, and permits society to participate in the Games. In Beijing, like in the cities and towns of the 27 countries on the flame’s route, thousands of people enthusiastically welcomed the Olympic Flame throughout its 55km journey through historic and modern sites, such as the Forbidden City, the business centre in Wangfujing, and the World Trade Centre, hoping to catch a glimpse of it, even holding it for a few seconds, or simply running alongside one of the torchbearers. The flame will burn for a few short weeks until the Opening Ceremony in Athens, but it will continue to burn in the hearts of the youth of the world, just as it burns in the heart of all those whom it has inspired in the past. It lives in the spirit of the athletes of past, present and future Games, sports leaders, volunteers, organising committees, and those passionate about sport. In 2008, more people than ever will tune in to experience the unique celebration that China will stage for the world, by sharing its long-lasting commitment to the promotion of Olympism and sport in China and beyond, and its Olympic experience.
